now let's finish you off
You know how sometimes, even before you get into something, you just know that a certain character is going to be your favorite? You've seen pictures of them online, or heard something about them and you get interested and want to know more about them, and then when they finally show up you're like oh, shit.
Yeah. That's me with Miranda.
I didn't know a whole lot about her going into ME2. I knew she was a major character, that she was gorgeous, and that there was a lot of misogynism slung her way in fandom. (Surprise, surprise.) I didn't know the first thing about her personality. So imagine my surprise when in walked a character who took absolutely none of Shepard's bullshit, knew exactly what her place on the Normandy was and who she was as a person, and that nothing would get in the way of her getting the job done. And I fell in love.
(Of course, I was playing Femshep, so my attempts to woo the lovely Miss Lawson didn't go so well. But I blame Bioware for that. And then I went and played through the game again as M!Shep purely to romance Miranda. Well, okay, and to do a Paragon run, but I wouldn't have sat through M!Shep's atrocious voice acting in ME1 if I didn't have to.)
Miranda's awesome. And she doesn't get nearly as much love as she deserves. There's still a lot of misogynism flung at her (don't even get me started) and while the male gaze is certainly a factor in her character design, it doesn't keep her from being a wonderful character in her own right. I'm very much looking forward to expanding this site into a fansite in the future to talk about her in more depth. ♥
Patterns used in the layout are from chamberten and tbh-1138. The site name comes from the fact that I think Miranda's arc is really about her figuring out who she is as a person and figuring out what she's going to do with herself from there. I'll probably change it in the future, but it works for now.
